How to start using Fathom
If you do not have a Fathom account, you can start a free 14-day trial.
Setting up Fathom for your needs starts with connecting to your source accounting system or importing a company into Fathom. Fathom connects to:
Not using one of the above source accounting systems? You can import your financial data into Fathom via Excel.
You can import multiple companies into Fathom during your trial. Fathom allows for unlimited users. You'll also have access to a Fathom Pro demo company throughout your trial, and once you sign up for a subscription.
Import Fathom Pro or Portfolio?
When importing a cloud-sourced company into Fathom, you can import it as a Fathom Pro or Portfolio company. This corresponds to the features you’ll be able to access for the company and the subscription plan for the company. You will not have to subscribe to a plan before the end of your trial.
💡 Smart Tip: During a trial, we recommend importing companies onto Fathom Pro so you can try out all of Fathom’s features with your company’s or client’s data.
If you import multiple companies into Fathom, some can be on a Fathom Pro plan and others on a Portfolio plan. A Portfolio plan enables you to bring more companies into Fathom at a lower price point. It is designed for accounting firms to get an overview of their entire portfolio of clients.

After importing, begin setup
You can begin setting up once you’ve imported a company or companies into Fathom.
For companies on Fathom Pro, you should customise the Company Settings.
For companies on Portfolio, the next step is to set up the Insights Dashboard.
Setting up a company on Fathom Pro
Companies on a Fathom Pro plan have access to the Company Settings. Your customisations in the Company Settings flow through to the Analysis tools, Reports, and Forecast. They also impact results in consolidated and benchmark groups.

Set up the Insights Dashboard
All companies on a Fathom Pro or Portfolio plan can be seen on the Insights Dashboard. For companies on a Portfolio plan, the Insights Dashboard is where you can access most of the functionality.
To set up the Insights Dashboard for optimal functionality, we recommend the following workflow:

💡 Smart Tip: The Insights Dashboard is more useful with a larger pool of companies to compare. You can import cloud-sourced companies in bulk, and the Portfolio plan enables you to import more companies at a lower rate.
