What is the Company Profile?
In the 'Company Profile', you can see basic information about the company, such as the financial year and accounting method. You can set the:
You can also change the company name or add a company logo for use in custom Pro reports.
Access the Company Profile
You can make changes to the KPIs you’re tracking in Fathom from a Fathom Pro company’s Settings at any time.
Access the Settings by selecting the Cog/Gear icon for the company from the 'My Companies' page. If you have several companies imported into Fathom, you’ll need to hover over a company to reveal the Cog/Gear icon.
Change the company name
If required, you can edit the company name for this entity. This is useful if you wish to change the presentation of the company name in the reports. Click on the company's name to enter a new one.
Add a company logo
You can add a company-specific logo and include this logo in reports for this company. Just click the Upload logo button.
For more detailed information on this, please see: 'Add your logo to Fathom'
Change a company's terminology
The terminology used by a company determines the vocabulary used in the Reports, Forecast, Analysis tools, and Settings.
Example: A nonprofit organisation may wish to use specific non-profit terminology, such as 'Net Assets' instead of 'Equity'.
When you import your company, the terminology will be set based on the default terminology for your Fathom organisation.
You can change the company's terminology by using the dropdown menu. If you have specific industry, regional, or organisational reporting standards, you can also create a custom terminology to select for the company.
Please see our 'Custom Terminology' article to learn more about the available terminologies and custom terminology creation.
Change a company's currency
You can change the company's currency symbol that appears in the Analysis tools, Forecast, and Reports.
📝 Note: Changing the currency of a single company will not perform any FX translation to existing results. The numbers will remain the same; it will simply change the currency symbol used for the company.
For more information on the available currencies, please refer to our dedicated help article on Supported Currencies. For details on exchange rate translation in multi-currency consolidation, see our 'Multi-currency Consolidation Methodology' article.
Change the accounting method
The accounting method used by the company is determined by the source accounting system and is listed in the Company Profile in Fathom. For some source accounting systems, you can change the accounting method used.
For more information about changing the accounting method, see our 'Can I change between cash and accrual basis?' article.
Add an invoice note
Invoice notes are helpful when you have several companies in a Fathom organisation. If you add an invoice note for a company, it will appear in the Excel invoice reports.
For more information on using invoice notes, please refer to our 'Add an invoice note' article.
Default rates
The default tax rate, interest rate, and weighted cost of capital are used in certain financial calculations within Fathom.
Example: The 'Operating Cash Flow' KPI is calculated with the default tax rate. The formula for the KPI is:
Earnings Before Interest, Tax, Depn & Amort.
- Tax Expenses
+ (Deferred Taxes - Opening Deferred Taxes)
- (Non-cash Working Capital
- Opening Non-cash Working Capital)
- (Net Interest * (Tax Rate / 100))
You're also able to use these default rates as variables in custom Formula KPIs.
