How to begin forecasting in Fathom & our recommended workflow

Updated this week

This feature is included with Fathom Pro - the plan with access to all of Fathom's features. Companies on Portfolio can be upgraded to Fathom Pro at any time.

How does forecasting work in Fathom?

Fathom enables 3-way forecasting (Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statement). You can also bring in data outside of your financial results for driver-based forecasting.

Forecasting in Fathom begins by creating your forecast. Once your forecast is created, you’ll be able to further customise and tailor the forecast’s baseline to the company or consolidated group. After setting up the baseline, you’ll be able to better strategise and plan for business actions and scenarios.

By default, Fathom enables you to forecast 3 financial years into the future beyond the current financial year. You have the option to extend the forecast to 5 years beyond the current financial year after you've created your forecast.

Get Started with Forecasting Workflow

To get as much value from Fathom's forecasting tools as possible, we recommend the following workflow:

    1. We recommend the Quick Start option for anyone forecasting in Fathom for the first time. If you've forecasted in Fathom before, you can choose another forecast onboarding option.

💡Smart Tip: If you're an Advisor or Admin-level user on a Fathom account, you can follow and complete the Forecasting Checklist steps within Fathom. Launch the Forecasting Checklist
