Import a budget from MYOB Business

You can import a budget into Fathom from MYOB Business anytime. If you do not have a budget you wish to use in MYOB, then you also have the option to import a budget from Excel or save your forecast as the budget.

While you can create multiple budgets in MYOB Business, Fathom only allows one budget to be connected. You can change which budget you have imported, but only one budget can be stored in Fathom.

📝 Note: The Lite version of MYOB Business does not have budgets. If you have connected a MYOB Lite company to Fathom, you can import budget data into Fathom via Excel.

Add a budget from MYOB

To add a budget to Fathom from MYOB Business:

Go to Source Data in the company’s Settings.
In the Budgets section, click the grey Add a Budget button.
Choose to import a budget from MYOB.

❗Notice: While you may be able to create multiple budgets in MYOB Business, Fathom only allows one budget to be connected at a single time.

If you want to import a budget from outside MYOB, you can import a budget into Fathom via Excel.

Build or add a budget from the company’s forecast

If you don't have a budget to import into Fathom, you can create one for your company using our forecasting tool. You can save your main forecast or a forecast scenario as your company's budget in Fathom.

You can either completely replace your current MYOB or Excel budget with the company’s forecast, or only partially replace it.

Fathom integrates with MYOB using a one-way API connection. This means that Fathom only imports data from MYOB and does not send any data back. Changes made in Fathom will not be reflected in MYOB, ensuring that your MYOB data remains unaffected.

💡Smart Tip: If your forecast is linked to your budget, you can still save your forecast as your budget. The budget data linked to your forecast will be saved as part of the new budget, along with the rest of the forecast data.

Update your MYOB budget

You can update your budget data in Fathom at any time. To update the budget from MYOB:

Go to Source Data in the company’s Settings.
In the Budgets section, click the grey Update Budget from MYOB button.

Budgets for jobs & cost centres

Budgets can only be applied to the entire entity, not individual jobs or cost centres.

However, if you import jobs or cost centres as standalone companies in Fathom, you can apply individual budgets to them. For more information, view the article on Adding Budgets for Divisions.
