Layouts are pre-built collections of chart and visualisations that help to streamline the process of building report templates.

They allow you to add a number of components to a page with a single click, thus saving you time in building out the pages of your report, while still allowing the flexibility to customise specific components on the page.

You can also choose to include some of your favourite Fathom Analysis tools in your reports from the Layouts tab. These include:

  • KPI Results
  • KPI Explorer
  • Profitability (Breakeven Analysis)
  • Cashflow Analysis
  • Growth Analysis

Adding a layout to your report

To add layouts into your report, proceed to the sidebar on the left side of the Report Editor and select the ‘Layouts’ tab.

By default, you will see a range of Revenue layouts to select from, grouped by portrait or landscape. Use the smart text filter at the top to find your desired layout, and add it to your report by clicking, or dragging and dropping.

KPIs

There are a range of KPI visualisations that you can add into your reports.

  • KPI Summary - This is a visual depiction of the performance of your KPIs, also available in the Analysis tools
  • KPI Results - A table of your KPIs results for the period, also available in the Analysis tools
  • Key Numbers
  • KPIs explained - a useful appendix page which details all of your KPIs together with their results, formula, and description.

Revenue

Choose from various combinations and arrangements of charts to include on your page. This collection of layouts defaults to revenue-specific charts as a starting point.

Notably, each chart can be edited and replaced as needed. Additionally, if the company is in a benchmark group, you may select the “Benchmarking” layout to insert a full-page visualisation of Fathom’s “Compare” tool in your report.

Profitability

Choose from various combinations and arrangements of charts to include on your page. This collection of layouts defaults to profitability-specific charts, but you may of course edit and replace each chart as needed.

Additionally, you may select the “Breakeven Analysis” layout to insert a full-page version of Fathom’s “Profitability” tool in your report.

Cashflow

Select from a range of charts and graphs pertaining to cash flow.

A notable layout that you can include is the 'Cash Flow Analysis' layout. This emulates the Cashflow Analysis tool - a waterfall chart that provides a visual storyline of the inflows and outflows of cash.

Growth

Select from a range of charts and graphs pertaining to growth metrics.

A notable layout that you can include is the 'Growth Analysis' layout. This tool helps you understand and assess a company's trajectory from a selected starting period to the current period, through a combination of growth metrics.

Editing Layouts

Each layout includes a default mix of components intended to be a starting point for you to further customise. Each component can be edited by hovering and clicking ‘Edit’. You can also double click anywhere on the component to edit.

For information on editing a specific component, please refer to the support article specific to that component type (ie. text, charts, or tables and financial statements)

Reposition or resizing components

You can easily reposition components in your report by dragging and dropping them to the desired location.

To resize components, hover your mouse over the component - an arrow will appear on the right and bottom border of the component. Drag this arrow to resize.

Please note that not all components can be resized, and that resizing is not free form - it will automatically snap to 25%, 33%, 50%, 66%, 75%, or 100% of the page width/height.

For more detail on manipulating components in a report, view our dedicated guide on Using the Report Editor.
