How to undo or redo changes

You'll find the grey undo and redo options in the top right corner of a custom Fathom report.

  1. Click on the left grey '↪️ Circle Arrow' icon to undo an action

  2. Click on the right grey '↩️ Circle Arrow' icon to redo an action you've undone

Up to 25 actions can be undone or redone in a Fathom report.

📝 Note: The undo and redo buttons only exist within a custom Fathom report and not within other areas of the platform. If you would like to see an undo/redo option elsewhere in Fathom, please get in touch with support@fathomhq.com with your feedback.

Undo and redo changes for text

When typing in a Fathom report, we recommend using the undo and redo hotkeys on your keyboard for more precision.

Action and OS

Hotkeys

Undo on Windows PC

Ctrl + Z

Redo on Windows PC

Ctrl + Y

Undo on Mac

Cmd + Z

Redo on Mac

Cmd + Y

The undo and redo buttons will still work for text components but will remove all text added while typing in the component. Also, if you are typing in a text component and select the 'Undo button' while still in the text component (instead of clicking out of the component), you will not have the option to add back the text with the 'Redo button'.

With the hotkeys, you can undo or redo more precise actions, such as bolding a word.

💡 Pro Tip: When not typing in a text component, the hotkeys can still be used to undo/redo actions just like the undo and redo buttons. The hotkeys will only offer more precision when in a text component.

When changes cannot be undone or redone

The undo and redo options will reset if you:

  • Refresh the reporting page

  • Change the report date

    • For example, changing the report to June 2024 from July 2024.

  • Change the reporting period

    • For example, setting a monthly report to a quarterly report in the Header at the top of the report.

  • Exit the report

If the undo and redo options reset, Fathom will not have a record of past actions taken in the report. Therefore, you will not be able to undo or redo actions taken before the reset.

Additionally, any changes made in the report Header cannot be undone or redone, including changing the report title, date, cover image, text position, etc.
