How to extend your forecast

To extend your forecast:

  1. Go to the 'Forecast Settings' by selecting the 'Cog/Gear' icon in the lower left of your forecast

  2. Under the 'General' tab, you'll find the 'Forecast Range'

  3. Select 'Extend to 5 years'

  4. Acknowledge the warning

Notice: You may experience slower performance when extending your forecast range if you have a larger chart of accounts.

Notice: You cannot go back to a 3-year forecast without deleting your forecast.

  5. Select 'Yes, extend forecast'

What is considered a large Chart of Accounts?

When you extend your forecast range, you may experience longer loading times in the forecasting tool, especially if you have a larger Chart of Accounts.

In general, a larger Chart of Accounts would contain more than 1,000 accounts.

How far into the future can you forecast?

By extending your forecast to 5 years, you'll be able to forecast five years beyond the current financial year.

If you are partially through the current financial year, you can forecast through the remainder of the year plus five financial years into the future.

The chart shows the forecast date range if the financial year is January-December and the current month is August. The same logic applies to other financial years.

Reverting back to a 3-year forecast

When you extend your forecast range to 5 years, you cannot go back to a range of three years without deleting your forecast.

BEFORE deleting your forecast:

  1. Download the forecast value audit report

  2. Download the driver values in the import format

    1. Go to the 'Drivers' tab in the forecasting grid

    2. Select the 'Import Drivers from Excel' icon in the upper right corner

    3. Download existing drivers

  3. Download to PDF any custom Fathom reports that reference forecast data

Once you've completed the above steps, you can delete your forecast:

  1. Go to the 'Forecast Settings' by selecting the 'Cog/Gear' icon in the lower left corner of your forecast

  2. Under the 'General' tab, scroll down to the 'Danger Zone'

  3. Select 'Delete Forecast'

When you create a new forecast, the date range will automatically be three years.
