When you create a consolidated group for the first time, you should create headings and group and order your accounts as required. This can be achieved in 'Step 3: Chart of Accounts' in your consolidated group setup.
Fathom does not copy the structure of the chart of accounts from the underlying entities but once you have created your structure, Fathom will retain it during updates to the group.
Reorder your accounts
To reorder your accounts, drag the account to a different location within the same classification.
Note: You are unable to reclassify accounts in the consolidated group setup. This can be done in the individual company setup, in Step 3: Chart of Accounts. Please note that Fathom will only consolidate accounts that have the same name and classification.
Restructure your accounts
You can restructure your accounts by creating headings and subheadings. These headings will allow for greater clarity when using the analysis and reporting tools.
To create headings or subheadings, hover over an existing header account or classification. An option to 'Add heading' will appear. This heading will be created underneath. View our dedicated support article for more information on creating and using headings.
Any account that is formed solely from archived accounts in the underlying entities will appear as an archived account in the consolidated group.
Account Numbers & Codes
If account numbers (or codes) have been defined in the entities underpinning a consolidated group, then they will also appear in the consolidated group, but only if they are the same in every company.
Let’s take the example of one entity with an account named ‘Rent’ and an account number of ‘3200’ and another entity which has an account with the same name, ‘Rent’, but an account code of ‘3300’. Providing they are both classified as a fixed expense, the consolidated group will have a single line with the name ‘Rent’, but a blank account number. We were able to group these accounts, but we could not determine a unique account number.
The account numbers will appear next to the account name when you run the excel consolidation report.
