Change the start date of a forecast

Update the starting month of your forecast

Updated yesterday

This feature is included with Fathom Pro - the plan with access to all of Fathom's features. Companies on Portfolio can be upgraded to Fathom Pro at any time.

How is the start date set?

Fathom forecasts are designed to be a financial model that stays relevant and close to your actuals. As Fathom brings in your actual financial data from the source system, the data on which your value rules and assumptions are based will update as well.

Fathom’s forecasting grid includes 12 months of actuals or historical data. By default, your forecast will start the month after the most recent month for which you have imported data.

How to change the forecast start date

You're able to change the month that your actual financial results end and your Forecast data range begins. This is handy if you have Fathom set up to update the financial results from your source system automatically before any adjusting or closing entries have been made.

To change the forecast start date:

  1. Go to your forecast's main grid.

  2. Click the date selector in the upper right corner of the forecast grid.

  3. Select the month you want to use as the last month of actuals data.

You cannot save the new start date. Once you leave the forecasting tool, the forecast will revert to the default start date.
