Financial trend tables allow you to show trended results for up to 12 periods for your P&L, Balance Sheet, or Cash flow statement.

If you would like to customise the columns to show comparatives such as prior period results, budget, variance, YTD, and more, view our dedicated article on Financial Statements in Reports.

Adding a financial trend table

To add financial trend tables to your report, click on the 'Tables and Financials' tab on the side bar, and select 'Financial Trends' from the smart text dropdown option.

There are options to show:

  • Last x months

  • This financial year (Actual or budget results)

  • Rolling 12 months

  • Projection for the rest of the FY (actuals for YTD, budget for future periods)

After adding a financial trend table to your reports, double click on it to customise it further.

Page Orientation

❗Note: Portrait pages can only show a maximum of 6 columns, whilst landscape can show up to 12 columns. If you add a 12 column table to a portrait orientation, the table will be changed to quarterly or annual results to fit the page.

For best results, ensure that your page orientation is landscape when adding 12 column trended tables. To switch your page orientation:

  • In the ‘Outline’ tab, click ‘More options’ (3 dot icon) on any section. You will have the ability to switch between portrait and landscape.

  • In your report, hover your mouse over a section heading. Click on the current orientation (Portrait/Landscape) to switch between the two.

Hide Rows with Nil or Zero Balances

To streamline a financial trend table, you can hide rows or accounts with only '0' values. To do this:

  1. Hover over the financial trend table in the Fathom report to reveal the green 'Pencil' icon in the upper right corner of the table

  2. Select the green 'Pencil' icon to open the table properties menu

  3. Select 'Rows'

  4. Check the checkbox for 'hide accounts with nil balances'
