Customers who have a QuickBooks Online Advanced subscription will receive access to Fathom. You can connect to Fathom by logging into QuickBooks and going to the 'Reporting' or the 'My Apps' section.

This company is not yet connected

While establishing the connection between QBO Advanced and Fathom, you may receive the error message 'This company is not yet connected'. This error message will usually appear for one of two reasons:

  1. The company was previously connected to a Fathom account that has expired

  2. There is an empty budget in QuickBooks for the company

Please follow the troubleshooting workflow below to resolve these potential issues.


Reason 1: The company was previously connected to Fathom

To resolve this, you should 'Disconnect' Fathom and then re-connect.

  1. Login to QuickBooks for the company in question and go to the 'Apps' tab.

  2. Navigate to Fathom and click 'Disconnect'.

  3. Proceed to the 'Reporting' area in QuickBooks and connect to Fathom again.

💡Pro Tip: If you are not a full access user or are not the original user to make the connection, you may need to take some further steps before you can disconnect. Please see the following article in the Intuit community forums.



Reason 2: There is an empty budget for the company in QuickBooks Online Advanced

When Fathom first connects to a QBO Advanced company, it attempts to bring in a budget along with the company's summary financial data.

To resolve this, you should ensure none of the budgets in QuickBooks for the company are empty.

  1. Go to the company in QuickBooks.

  2. Select the 'Cog/Gear' icon in the top right corner of the QuickBooks screen.

  3. In the 'Tools' section, select 'Budgeting'.

  4. Check all existing budgets for the company to ensure they all have at least one entry.

  5. For any empty budgets, delete the budget in QuickBooks. If you do not want to delete the empty budget, then edit the budget and enter non-zero data (e.g. 5, 8, 10) into at least one cell for all of the empty budgets.

  6. Save the changes you make to the budgets.

  7. Re-attempt the connection with Fathom.
