Hitting the limits in Fathom? Here are the thresholds we support for common entities and processes

Importing Financial Periods

You can import up to 8 years of monthly data into Fathom. This is a hard limit - if you have 8 years, you'll need to remove earlier periods of financial data in Fathom before being able to import new periods.

We recommend maintaining up to 5 years of monthly data for the best performance in Fathom.

KPIs

Fathom supports a maximum of 60 active KPIs for any company or consolidated group.

Active KPIs are only used in the display for 'KPI Summary', 'KPI Explorer' and 'Trend' analysis tools.

If you need more KPIs for use in reports, you can create more than 60 and keep them 'inactive'. Inactive KPIs can still be selected from variable selectors in other areas of Analysis and Reports in Fathom.

Currently, it is possible to import up to 1,000 non-financial KPIs for a company (both active and inactive).

Please get in touch with our Fathom support team if you believe you'll need more than 1,000 non-financial KPIs for a company: support@fathomhq.com.

Chart of Accounts

You can import companies with up to 3000 accounts in your Chart of Accounts. Companies with a Chart of Accounts larger than this cannot be imported into Fathom.

Account names are limited to 50 characters, including spaces. If the number of characters in the account name exceeds 50, the account name will be cut off past the 50-character limit.

Custom Terminology

You can have up to 20 custom terminologies in a Fathom organisation.

Custom financial statement titles are limited to 75 characters, including spaces. Account names are limited to 50 characters, including spaces.

Divisions (Classes, Locations, Tracking Categories)

You can also choose to include divisions when importing your financial data from your accounting system. This is helpful to filter your results even further.

You can import a maximum of:

  • 60 tracking options/categories (Xero)

  • 60 classes/locations (QuickBooks Online)

  • 20 jobs/categories/classes (MYOB AccountRight Live and QuickBooks Desktop)

If you have more divisions than the above limits, you can still successfully import your company data into Fathom. When viewing your company results as a whole, the total company results shown will be accurate.

However, you can only filter down to show specific results for the 60 (Xero/QuickBooks Online) or 20 (MYOB/QBD) divisions you've selected for the company. Any data applied to divisions that haven't been imported will be shown as 'Unclassified'.

📝 Note: It is not possible to import divisions from Excel into Fathom unless you're importing the divisions as standalone companies.

Consolidated & Benchmark Groups

Consolidations

You're able to create consolidated groups for up to 300 entities.

For multi-currency consolidated groups, the limit is 50

Please reach out to our team at Fathom support if you would like to consolidate larger groups: support@fathomhq.com

Benchmark Groups

Fathom enables comparative reporting ('benchmarking') for up to 500 entities.

Users

There is no limit to the number of users on a Fathom account. You can invite and collaborate with as many people as you want.

Reporting

There is no limit to the number of draft reports, published reports, custom templates, or report schedules.

Undo and Redo button

In a custom Fathom report, you can undo or redo up to 25 actions.

Forecasting

Forecast Date Range

By default, the forecasting tool enables you to forecast 3 financial years beyond the current financial year.

You have the option to extend the forecast to 5 years beyond the current financial year.

The below image depicts a January-December financial year, but the same logic applies to other financial years.

Microforecasts

It is currently possible to have up to 50 microforecasts in a Fathom forecast.

Forecast Drivers

As many as 500 drivers can be displayed in the Drivers Grid for a forecast. Up to 200 drivers can be imported into the Drivers Grid in a single Excel import.

Scenarios

There is no limit to the number of scenarios you can create in a forecast.
